After you read "The Life You Save May Be Your Own," write a short paragraph describing what it might be like to live in the isolated rural South during the first part of the 20th century.

Offer specifics about the landscape, the people there, and what they might say to each other.

it was probably very lonely. it sounds like the old lady and her daughter are the only ones around. neighbors helped neighbors, if there were any. not many sources of entertainment like urban areas.

I wouldn't want to live in the rural, I’m very attached to my technology, I wouldn’t be able to use the Internet, or use a cell phone. Life for me would me much harder. To me the rural south doesn’t have much of an appeal. I would probably spend my life working, without much of an education. Grow up and inherit my family farm after getting married at the age of 20.

Life would have been difficult and lonely. You would have to find a way to entertain yourself cause there wouldn't be much to do. You would get much people passing by your house, if any at all.

Well life in the rural south was mostly farming and live stocking. Big open wilderness and lots of land. If i lived here i most likely would have been completely different then I am today. I would be a little southern for obvious reasons. And I would have most likely have joined the war and died by mustard gas at 18.

I think it would be boring at first because its all flat land and not much to do. But after a few months it would be bearable.

The rural area sounds quiet and peaceful, maybe a little weird. But, that's exactly what I dislike. I love my technology and the city. I feel as if the rural area has more to offer, nature wise, but entertainment and other thing's not so much.

I think that life would be hard , living life with no technology where most of the people are farmers, living a daily routine. Its also kind of boring that you do the something but deferent day.

Rural south is probably very racist/prejudice and superstitious. It would be a very hard place to live if you were different than the unspoken standard they all choose to live by.

I am a social person, and usually find my peace in a chaotic environment. No technology as of now would kind of suck but we would get used to it and wouldn't think anything of it. Communication and daily living would be hard. Also our wars are won on technology so even the whole world would be changed.

I don't think I would mind living in a rural area. I would like the fact that i would not be surrounded by lots of technology, I like nature and its surroundings very much.
